No. 6 Campbellsville Tops TU

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Thomas University women's basketball team fell to sixth-ranked Campbellsville (Ky.), 83-59, on Thursday at the Fernandez Family Center in the second game of the St. Thomas December Classic.

The Night Hawks fell to 5-7, while the Tigers improved to 13-2 on the season. The Night Hawks travel back to St. Thomas (Fla.) on Jan. 5 at 6 p.m. to start off the new year.

Arianna Anderson led the Night Hawks with 17 points and eight rebounds, while Kriza Allen provided 11 points, five rebounds and dished a team-best three assists.

The Night Hawks jumped out to a 6-1 lead on a made jumper by Dymon Brown early in the game. Jordan Doram brought the Tigers within one at 12-11 with less than a minute to play in the first quarter. The Night Hawks held a 14-13 lead after one period.

Campbellsville opened the second quarter with a 5-0 run and held an 18-14 lead. The Night Hawks responded with a 9-0 run and took a 23-18 lead. The Tigers took a 29-23 lead with two minutes left before halftime with an 11-0 run. Tess Wright knocked down a three-pointer before the break, while Campbellsville led 33-30 into the locker room.

Anderson converted a jumper to start the third quarter and pulled the Night Hawks within one at 33-32. The Tigers responded with a 13-2 run and opened up a 47-34 lead. Campbellsville then went on an 11-4 run and extended the lead to 61-42. The Tigers led 63-46 into the final quarter.

The Night Hawks made three free throws and trimmed the lead to 65-49. TU closed the game with five more free throws.
