Night Hawks Outlast Webber 70-66

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Thomas University women's basketball team pulled off a 70-66 win over Webber International (Fla.) Thursday night at the Sabbagh Athletic Center. TU outscored Webber 16-12 in the fourth quarter.

The Night Hawks improved to 4-3, 2-1 in The Sun Conference, while the Warriors fell to 3-6, 0-2 in TSC. TU continues conference play against Florida Memorial 2 p.m. Saturday in Miami Gardens, Fla.

J'Nyiah Daniels led the Night Hawks with 16 points, while Dymon Brown provided 13 points. Micah Garvin powered TU with 12 rebounds and five assists.

The Night Hawks started the game with a 7-2 run with a three-pointer by Kriza Allen. Arianna Anderson converted a free throw and extended the TU lead to 11-6 with four minutes left in the first quarter. The Warrior went on a 7-2 run and took a 14-13 lead. Daniels knocked down a jumper and gave the Night Hawks an 18-17 lead at the end of the first quarter.

TU opened the second quarter on a 7-2 run and took a 25-19 lead. Garvin connected on a jumper that extended the Night Hawks lead to 35-28. The Warriors brought the game within a possession at 35-32 on a made jumper by Jakia Davis. TU held a 38-34 lead at the halftime break.

The Night Hawks opened the second half with three free throws before Webber went on a 9-0 run and took a 45-41 lead. TU responded with a 5-0 run and took a 46-45 lead. Tess Wright tied the game at 54-54 with two free throws to end the third quarter.

Wright converted two free throws that started a 9-0 run that gave TU a 67-59 lead. The Warriors responded with a 7-2 run that cut the lead to 68-66 with 40 seconds remaining in the game. Daniels knocked down two free throws with 13 seconds left that sealed the victory for the Night Hawks.
