Figueroa’s Hat Trick Not Enough for TU Against Keiser

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University men's soccer team fell to Keiser University in penalty kicks, 5-4, in the semi-finals of The Sun Conference Tournament Tuesday at the TU Soccer Complex. The teams were tied 3-3 at the end of regulation and double overtime. Juan Figueroa netted all three goals for the Night Hawks.

The Night Hawks went to 14-4-1 on the year, while the Seahawks improved to 9-4-3 on the year. TU awaits an at-large bid into the NAIA national men's soccer tournament on Monday.

Figueroa netted the first goal less than six minutes into the game off a pass from Jarrod Ingram.

Aaron Molloy tied the game with a header in the 31st minute off a cross from Alex Babiolakis. The teams went into the halftime break tied 1-1.

Reece Welson put KU up 2-1 in the 69th minute with a penalty kick. Figueroa tied the game, 2-2, 30 seconds later. Figueroa completed his hat trick in the 73rd minute and put the Night Hawks up 3-2.

Alessandra Giammatte tied the game with nine seconds left in the game with help of a free kick from the Seahawks.

Diego Menendez scored the winning penalty kick.
