THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University men's soccer team advanced to the round of 16 in the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship with a 3-2 win over Georgia Gwinnett on Saturday at the TU Soccer Complex. TU's Jarrod Ingram netted the game winner with 44 seconds left in the first overtime.

The Night Hawk improved to 15-3-2 on the season, while the Grizzlies ended the season at 13-4-3. TU plays Northwestern Ohio for the second time this season in Delray Beach, Fla. The two teams tied, 0-0, in the first game of the season.

Gavin Rochford-Smith netted the first goal of the game in the 13th minute. The ball was played into the 18-yard box from the left side. Ingram's shot was saved by the Georgia Gwinnett goalie. Rochford-Smith collected the save and scored the goal.

Jack Gurr tied the game for the Grizzlies in the 13th minute. Gurr took a shot from 35 yards out that sailed over the TU goalie's head.

The two teams were tied at 1-1 at the halftime break.

Antonio Rodriguez put the Night Hawks up 2-1 in the 77th minute. Rodriguez took a free kick from 20 yards out that bent around the Georgia Gwinnett wall and found the left side of the net.

Matti Puranen tied the game with 32 seconds left. Gurr played the ball into the box and was finished by Puranen.

Ingram netted the game winner with 44 seconds remaining in the first overtime. He juked a couple Grizzlies defenders and found the back of the net.
