Southeastern Knocks off TU

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Thomas University women's soccer team had a three-game win streak snapped with a 3-1 loss to Southeastern University (Fla.) on Saturday.

The Night Hawks fell to 5-8-0, 4-2 in The Sun Conference, while the Fire improved to 9-1-0, 3-1-0 in TSC. TU stays on the road against South Carolina Beaufort 2 p.m. Saturday in Bluffton, S.C.

Karly Palmar netted the first goal of the game for Southeastern in the 20th minute with an assist from Konya Plummer. Uchenna Kanu extended the Fire lead in the 39th minute off a cross from Ellen Bruno.

Kayla Folse scored TU's goal 13 seconds before halftime. The Fire held a 2-1 lead at that halfway mark.

Bania Duran scored an insurance goal in the 76th minute with an assist from Melanie Peyton.

The Night Hawks put five of their seven shots on frame.

Kara Houston registered eight saves in goal for TU.
