THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Behind the career single-game high 20 point performance by sophomore guard
Tess Wright, the Thomas University women's basketball team picked up its second Sun Conference victory of the 2015-16 defeating Keiser University 66-61 in a double overtime thriller.
Thomas struggled out the gate allowing the Lady Seahawks to have an eleven point, 28-17 advantage at the intermission.
Slowly, the Lady Night Hawks started their comeback in the opening minutes of the third quarter. Thomas outscored the Lady Seahawks 16-9 in the quarter that saw Keiser's lead diminish to 35-33 when
Shaunice Bennett netted a key three from the corner with 1:54 left in the period.
Wright, who went 6-for-6 from behind the arch, netted her first big three of the contest in the opening seconds of the fourth quarter to cut Keiser's lead to 37-36. Thomas continued to chip away at the KU lead and tied the game at 39-39 on Wright's second big three of the contest. In the final 37 seconds of regulation, KU's Jamilla Bank Wall put the Lady Seahawks ahead 48-45 netting the front end of two free throws.
With 23 ticks left on the clock, Wright spotted up for her third three and netted the tying bucket. Keiser held one last possession that saw Desirai Smith heave a last second, wide-open three at the top of the key that rattled out, sending the game to overtime.
The Hunter Green and White (7-6, 2-1 TSC) took their first lead of the contest, since the game's opening basket by
Rayven Thomas at the 8:30 mark, when Wright landed her fourth three in a row to make it 51-48 in Thomas' advantage.
Keiser (8-9, 1-3 TSC) forced another overtime period with a free throw by Smith with six seconds left in the first extra period.
In the final overtime period, Thomas would go on to outscore Keiser 13-8 to take the 66-61 victory.

Coretta Brown reflected on today's win, "Great overall effort by our women. We continue to grow each day. Wright was spot on when we needed her to be, and the results made a big difference. I'm proud of what we accomplished. We never gave up and kept fighting."
The Lady Night Hawks return to action on Thursday, Jan. 14 when they travel to Lakeland, Fla., to face Southeastern University in Sun Conference action. Tipoff from the Furnace is slated for 5:30 p.m.
