Rayven Thomas becomes the third Lady Night Hawk to break a TU record during the 2015-2016 season. In Thomas' 10-point, 70-60 victory over Sun Conference foe Florida Memorial, junior transfer
Rayven Thomas broke the single game rebounds record of 22, previously held by
Bra'shey Ali, bringing down 23 rebounds.
Thomas has been dominating the boards this season as they lead NAIA Division I and II, averaging 51 a game. Their 71 rebounds tonight topped their total points scored (70) against Florida Memorial in the contest.
Florida Memorial pounced out to the early advantage starting the game with an 8-0 run over the first three minutes of play. Thomas scored its first basket with 6:13 left in the opening quarter to halt the scoring barrage and answered with its own 10-0 run to take their first lead, 10-8, of the evening. The Lions regained the lead, 19-15, outscoring the Lady Night Hawks 11-5 in the last two minutes of the opening period.
The Hunter Green and White resumed its lead, 23-21, four minutes into the second quarter on a open three-pointer by freshman
Dymon Brown. After the make, Thomas never surrendered that advantage to the Lions for the remainder of the contest.
Up 30-24 at the break, the Lady Night Hawks continued to post scoring runs that gave them a 12 point lead at its height late in the second half of play.
At the buzzer, Thomas held the 70-60 advantage, handing the Lady Night Hawks their fifth conference win of the season.

Rayven Thomas' record setting performance as she picked up her sixth double-double of the season. The Las Vegas, Nev., native netted 12 points in addition to her 23 rebounds.
Taron Bright turned in another stellar performance for TU, scoring 15 points while bringing down seven boards. Florida Memorial was paced by Ashley Henry's 12 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.
"I'm very pleased with the way the girls banned together tonight," stated head coach
Coretta Brown. "A lot of distractions surrounded the game, but they found a way to focus and pull out the win. I applaud Rayven on tonight's record-setting performance. Her effort kept us in the game."
