Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

TU, Ali Boast Record-Setting Day in Win over TBC

Jason Hendrix | Sports Information Director | @JasonHendrixSID

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University women's basketball team had a record-setting day Saturday as they defeated Trinity Baptist College 103-42.  The 103 points scored by the Lady Night Hawks is a program record while the 42 points scored by the Lady Eagles ties Thomas' single-game low allowed by the Hunter Green and White (Northwood, now Keiser, on January 22, 2015).

Individually, senior Bra'shey Ali recorded the program's first triple-double, scoring 19 points, dishing out 11 assists, and bringing down 22 rebounds.  Ali's 22 boards breaks Thomas' previous record (21) that she set on Nov. 17 against Mobile.

"We started out a little slower than we liked," stated head coach Coretta Brown. "Our defense and rebounding started to pick up, and we found the open shooter for us to knock down open shots."

Trinity Baptist led the game from the tip going up 10-9 on Thomas in the first four minutes of the opening quarter.  That lead, however, was short lived as the Lady Night Hawks took over offensively and never looked back.  At the end of the first, Thomas held a 25-17 advantage over the Lady Eagles.

The Thomas defense then took over as they held TBC to just two points in the second quarter.  On the offensive end of the floor, the Lady Night Hawks continued to connect going up 49-19 at the half.

Down the stretch, Thomas would go on to outscore Trinity Baptist (2-7) 30-8 in the third and 24-15 in the fourth to pull out the 103-42 victory.  The 61 point win also sets the record for the Lady Night Hawks' biggest win differential in a single game.

Brown concluded, "Today is a short lived victory as we have a quick turnaround for Monday's game at Brewton-Parker."

Thomas (3-3) will be back in action on the road on Mon., Nov. 30 as they travel to Mount Vernon, Ga., to face Brewton-Parker College.  Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
