THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University women's soccer team dropped a nail-biter this afternoon to Warner University falling 4-3. The match also played host to Thomas' annual Breast Cancer Awareness Day and Pink Out game.
The Lady Royals struck first in the 15th minute when Jamie Murray slipped through Thomas' backline and fired a shot just past TU's
Sara-Ann Hartley's outstretched arms. Seven minutes later, Thomas would tie the match at 1-1 when
Adrianna Johnson lifted a free kick across the box to
Olivia Taylor. Taylor capitalized placing a header into the net.
Heading out of the intermission knotted at 1-1, it took just two minutes for the Lady Night Hawks to take the 2-1 lead. Freshman
Alleah Long placed a header into the right corner of the net off a left-footed cross from senior
Mackenzie Dolan.
Four minutes later, Warner would tie the game at 2-2 with a goal by Maria Diaz. The Lady Royals would took a 3-2 lead in the 57th minute when Murray netted her second goal of the match.
In the 60th minute, Thomas would once again tie the match at 3-3 when Johnson lifted a corner to the middle of the box where
Linnea Roivas headed the perfectly placed touch into the net.
After a fury of shots by Thomas dominated the next eight minutes of the match, Warner would find a hole in the Lady Night Hawk defensive line when Kristen Isabelle side-stepped to her right and hooked a looping shot to the upper left corner of the net from 20 yards out. The goal broke the tie sending the Lady Royals to the 4-3 victory.
