Night Hawks, Keiser Clash in TSC Battle

Jacob Dennis | Sports Information Intern | @jakeyd_8

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Coming off of three consecutive victories, the Thomas University men's soccer team will carry significant momentum into its final conference road match on Oct. 11.  The contest will feature Ricky Zambrano's eighth-ranked Night Hawks and the Keiser Seahawks, two teams that are currently atop the Sun Conference standings.

The Night Hawks exploded to life on Oct. 9, as the team turned a 1-0 halftime deficit to Johnson & Wales into a resounding 3-1 victory.  The win pushed TU's record to 10-2, including a solid 4-1 mark so far in Sun Conference play.

Thomas will have one final conference test away from home, and while the Night Hawks will most-likely be favored to win, earning three points on the road is always a difficult task.

TU's upcoming opponent, Keiser, posted a respectable 6-2-2 mark in conference play a season ago, and it was around this point in the season that the Seahawks began to heat up.  Joe Zakowicz's side won three of four matches to conclude the 2014 regular season and upset top-seeded Rio Grande in the national tournament, two feats that the team will hope to duplicate this season.

The Seahawks boast a veteran roster that includes 12 seniors and 11 juniors to just five freshmen.
Additionally, Keiser has been in great form recently, as the team has won five out of its last six conference matches, including shutout victories of Warner and SCAD, respectively.

Not to be outdone, the Night Hawks have been in great form recently as well, as the team continues to display the ability to win matches in any way possible.

Thomas has won a 5-4 match, a 1-0 match and a match during which the team played a man down for nearly the entire game, exemplifying the team's versatility.  The Night Hawks have outscored opponents 10-6 during the current three-match winning streak.

The Oct. 11 match versus Keiser will be one of the most important contests of the season as Thomas has a golden opportunity to solidify its standing atop the Sun Conference.

Should the Night Hawks earn three points against the Seahawks, the team's three final TSC matches will be at home, potentially allowing Ricky Zambrano's team to carry a long winning streak and a high ranking into postseason play.
