BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Thomas University women's soccer team was shutout this afternoon by Sun Conference rival Webber International 4-0.
Webber International's Jenna Murphy netted the lone goal of the first half on a breakaway. Murphy, who received a touch from Cierra Abundez, charged towards the goal for a one-on-one against TU's keeper
Sara-Ann Hartley, pushing the ball just past Hartley's outstretched arms.
In the second half, the Lady Warriors would net three more goals, one each from Megan Howard, Abundez, and Julian Funtes, en route to their 4-0 victory.
While Thomas fell short, Hartley managed nine saves on the 16 shots she faced while they had three shots deflected off the post.
"We had moments when we dominated and didn't earn anything to show for it," stated head coach
Julie Orlowski. "Our decision making needs to be better, and we need to focus on what's important during game."
With the loss, Thomas drops to 4-6, 1-2 TSC, on the year while the Lady Warriors improve to 2-4, 1-2 TSC.
The Lady Night Hawks return to action on Saturday, Oct. 3, when they return home to the TU Soccer Complex to face Sun Conference rival Warner University in their annual Breast Cancer Awareness / Pink Out game. First touch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
