Night Hawks Tie Northwestern Ohio 3-3 in 2 OT

Box Score The Night Hawks (1-0-1) (TSC 0-0) force a 3-3 tie in 2 OT against The Northwestern Ohio Racers Sunday night in Hattiesburg, MS.

The Racers took an early lead over Thomas as they scored two goals within the first twenty-three minutes of the match, making it 2-0.  TU remained scoreless through the first half, increasing the pressure of the second half.  UNOH would score their third and final goal of the game, increasing the lead 3-0 as they approached the 63rd minute mark.

Thomas University was up for the challenge as Sophomore Johnathan Lopez would answer with a goal, bring the game to 3-1.  Just 30 seconds after Lopez's goal, Sophomore Jake Slocombe (2A) would aid Freshmen Johnathon McGrath in his first goal of his TU career, bring the deficit to just one, making the score 3-2. 

The Night Hawks weren't finished as Slocombe would assist Sophomore Donal Branagan in netting the third goal of the second half as Thomas Charged their way back from the 3-0 deficit, bring the game to a 3-3 tie with just 12 minutes left to play.  Branagan played a vital role defensively as well, as he was dominant with his ball winning throughout the course of the match.

Both TU and UNOH would remain scoreless through two overtimes, imposing a 3-3 tie to conclude the weekend in Hattiesburg, MS.

"I was extremely pleased with the amount of heart that our team showed.  We were down 3-0, but they continued to fight and showed their ability to play under pressure," said Head TU Men's Soccer Coach, Ricky Zambrano. "We will continue to work hard and build on this past weekend as prepare for the road ahead."

The Night Hawks will be back in action as they face-off with No. 16 Georgia Gwinnett on Saturday, September 6th at 4:30pm for their home opener at Wendy's Soccer Complex in Thomasville, GA.
