Thomas University Men's Soccer (9-0-2) (4-0 TSC) return to Thomasville as victors yet again with a win over Warner University (3-6) (1-3 TSC), 3-0.
In 90 minutes of play, the Night Hawks denied the Royals any goals and shut out the conference opponent. Just under four minutes into the first half, Sophomore Severin Abt (1G) struck early with an assist by Freshman Jonathon McGrath (1A). The remainder of the first half was a duel of defenses with neither one faltering. Entering half time, the Night Hawks led the Royals 1-0.
Sophomore Juan Figueroa (1G) netted the second goal, assisted by Senior Diego Hurtado(1A) well into the second half during the 70th minute. With a 2-0 lead, TU gained additional insurance with another goal, courtesy of an assist by Junior Lyle Gifford (1A) and netted by Sophomore Jake Slocombe (1A). Sophomore Alex Condell saved the two shots on goal from WU and TU landed their fifth shutout.
"Our defense has played a vital role this season and has been crucial in getting the results," said TU Head Men's Soccer Coach, Ricky Zambrano. "Our offense is also a threat and it's exciting to see a fairly young team put together successful results against conference opponents."
Thomas University Men's Soccer defends their No. 1 NAIA ranking, collecting their fourth conference win with thirteen points against conference opponents. Three of their past four conference games have been shutouts as a result of the Night Hawks dominance.
The Night Hawks will be taking on the Florida Memorial Lions at the Thomas University Soccer Complex Friday, October 10th at 4:30 P.M.
