Corey Potter enters his 13th year as Thomas University’s Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in 2024-25. He began his tenure with the Night Hawks in June 2012. Potter oversees the daily operation of Thomas’ Fitness Center located on Magonila Campus and is responsible for baseball, softball, men's soccer, men's basketball, and football.
Before coming to Thomas, Potter served as a strength and conditioning coach intern at the University of Maryland working primarily with men’s soccer, wrestling, men’s and women’s golf, women’s water polo, softball, and track and field. During the 2012 season, the Maryland wrestling team won the ACC Championship while the men’s soccer team advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA College Cup.
Prior to Maryland, Potter worked at the University of Alabama for three years as a volunteer assistant strength and conditioning coach. During his first year, Potter worked primarily with women’s basketball, women’s golf, and softball. He spent his remaining two years with the Crimson Tide working as a strength and conditioning coach intern with the football team. Potter spent a majority of his time training the Crimson Tide’s defensive players. During two seasons (2009 and 2011), the Crimson Tide football team won the National Championship.
The Greenville, S.C., native earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science from Furman University (2006) and obtained his Master of Science in Sports Management from Alabama (2010). Potter is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and holds a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coaching certification.
Corey and his wife, Amanda, have one son, Maddox, and reside in Thomasville, Ga.
