Jake Desuyo enters his first season as Thomas University’s Athletic Assistant Baseball Coach.
Desuyo earned his Associates of Arts from Florida State College Jacksonville in 2013 where he played two seasons under head coach Chris Blauquiere. As a second baseman, Desuyo started 68 of the 70 games he played in, boasting a .236 batting average for the Blue Wave. In the field, Desuyo collected 128 putouts, 176 assists, and a .938 fielding percentage.
After his sophomore season, Desuyo transferred to Thomas. During his two seasons as a member of the Night Hawk baseball team, Desuyo played in 96 games collecting 100 hits on 341 at bats while hitting 17 doubles, three triples, and one homerun. The right-hander drove in 34 runs and boasted a .293 career batting average. During the 2014 season, the Jacksonville, Fla., native received Second Team All-Conference honors from the Sun Conference and was the recipient of the 2014 TSC Gold Glove for shortstop compiling 70 putouts, 139 assists, and a .941 fielding percentage while converting 20 double plays. Following the 2015 season, Desuyo was named TU’s Most Valuable Player as voted by his teammates and coaching staff.
Coach Desuyo received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology (2015) and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from Thomas.
Currently, Desuyo, resides in Thomasville, Ga.
