THOMASVILLE, Ga. — The Thomas Night Hawks (16-16, 9-6) soared to a commanding 13-2 win over Blue Mountain Christian (MS) (16-16, 5-10) completing the series win on Saturday at Varnedoe Stadium.The NIght Hawks set the tone with a stellar offensive display, with 16 total hits, including two home runs and two triples.
The Night Hawks wasted no time getting on the board. In the second inning,
Jackson Thomas tripled, and
Max Pickert drove him in with an RBI single. A balk, an error, and a Garcia RBI ground out helped the Night Hawks jump to a 4-0 lead by the end of the second.
The third inning was a hit parade for the Night Hawks, adding seven runs.
Jackson Thomas launched a two-run homer, and his brother
Carson Thomas followed suit with another two-run shot to the right side of the park for the first homer of his varsity collegiate career.
Brayden Lawhon and
Noah Smith chipped in with RBI hits, stretching the lead to a comfortable 11-0.
In the fourth,
Gabe Tafelski drew a bases-loaded walk, pushing the score to 12-0. Blue Mountain Christian scratched a run across in the fifth, but the Night Hawks answered right back as
Noah Smith crossed home on a Tafelski single, making it 13-1.
The visitors managed one more run in the sixth, but it wasn't enough to faze the Night Hawks. The game wrapped up with a decisive 13-2 victory for the home team.
On the mound, the Night Hawks' pitching staff was solid.
Zach Buelk got things rolling, pitching one inning with no earned runs on one hit.
Dustin Letchworth took over, going four innings and allowing one earned run on four hits, while
Charlie Eidelman and
Tyler Marczak closed things out with effective relief.
Seth Waltimyer contributed with two hits, two RBIs, and a stolen base.
Jackson Thomas was an offensive powerhouse with two runs, two hits, two RBIs, and a homer. Smith contributed two hits, two runs, and two RBIs, along with a triple and a stolen base. Tafelski's three hits and three runs showcased his prowess at the plate.
