MOBILE, Ala. — The Night Hawks faced a tough outing against the No. 18 Rams on Saturday dropping both games of the twin bill. In both matchups.
Game 1: Thomas 0, Mobile 5
Thomas managed to draw two walks, but Mobile held firm with 12 hits. Mobile jumped ahead early, scoring in the first inning after a string of singles, followed by a run reaching on an error, putting Mobile up 2-0 after the first inning. The third inning saw Mobile widen scoring a pair of runs to bring the game to 4-0. In the sixth inning, Mobile tacked on their final run to seal the game.
On the mound
Baileigh Herrera pitched three innings, allowing just one earned. She faced 18 batters with 39 pitches, 29 of which were strikes.
Maggie Stubbs came in for relief, pitching 3 innings and giving up 3 hits and 1 earned run, facing 12 batters with 29 pitches and 19 strikes, maintaining a WHIP of 1.00.
Game 2: Thomas 0, Mobile 10
In the second game, Thomas was unable to break through Mobile's defense, while Mobile capitalized on their hot bats. Mobile jumped ahead to 5-0 by the end of the first inning. The second inning saw the lead grow to 8-0, while the third inning for the Rams capped the scoring at 10-0. The Night Hawks were able to keep Mobile scoreless in the fourth and fifth innings.
