LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Thomas University senior right‑handed pitcher Baileigh Herrera has been named to the NFCA Leadoff Classic All‑Tournament Team, following a standout performance that powered the Night Hawks to a pair of key victories, including an upset of a top‑10 opponent.
Herrera delivered one of the tournament's strongest pitching outings, earning the win over No. 7 Cumberlands with six scoreless innings. Her shutdown performance secured Thomas' first victory over a team ranked No. 7 or higher since March 6, 2021.
The senior was equally impressive the day before, working nine complete innings in an extra‑inning battle at Brenau. Though she did not factor into the decision, her resilience and command kept Thomas in the game long enough for the Night Hawks to secure the 12–10 win.
Across the tournament, Herrera posted:
- 15.0 innings pitched
- 1 win
- 6 strikeouts
- Just 2 walks
- 1.67 WHIP
Herrera also contributed at the plate, batting .600 (6-for-10) with four runs scored, two doubles, and two RBI over three games.
Head Coach Sanders praised Herrera's impact throughout the weekend and the season so far.
"Baileigh has pitched very well this year, even though she didn't earn her first win until beating number 7 ranked team in the nation this weekend. She is a steady presence in the circle, and as our hitting improves, she will continue to earn more wins."
