Thomas knocks off (RV) Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. – Thomas went on the road for a tough SSAC cross divisional matchup against the receiving votes Mobile Rams on Tuesday night.

The Night Hawks came out firing in the first half, with Andre Lightbourne and Joshua Robertson knocking down back-to-back threes on their first two possessions of the game. The Rams fought back, knocking down a three to tie the game at six all before Lightbourne drained another three to get the lead back. Deonta Jones added on with a three of his own and Lightbourne followed suit hitting his third three in a row to give Thomas a nine-point lead. Mobile managed to cut the lead to five, but Jailin Lee made the sixth three in a row for Thomas, to bring the lead back up to eight. Following a responding three from the Rams, Lightbourne made a tough layup and then hit his fourth three in a row to spark a 23-8 run to end the half up by 20.

Mobile came out of the locker room aggressive, ripping off an 11-2 run early. Lightbourne ended the run with his sixth three of game to bring the lead back to double-digits, then a Mobile three cut it back down to single-digits before Armani Thomas responded back with a three of his own to send the lead back to 11. A five-point swing by the Rams brought the lead down to four, but again Thomas answered back with another three and on the next possession found Lee for a layup to lead by nine with 8:29 to go.

Mobile began to rally, beginning with a quick jumper and later a three to bring the lead to six, then they made a three to cut it to a one possession game with 4:31 to go. Lee made a midrange jumper and Tyson Anderson went to the line and sank both free throws to extend the lead to seven, but two quick makes from the Rams brought it back to three. With a 1:14 left, Mobile went to the line with a chance to make it a one-point game, but went one of two. On the ensuing possession, Lee found Atraiel Washington to bring the lead to four. Then Robertson got fouled and then made both his shots at the line to ice the game for the Night Hawks.

Thomas takes the floor again on Saturday, Feburary 8th at 2:00PM in an SSAC East division matchup against Brewton-Parker
