Robertson's career day not enough for Night Hawks against Running Eagles

MARIETTA, Ga. –Thomas took on the Life Running Eagles in the second meeting in 10 days between the two teams on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Night Hawks came out firing on all cylinders, jumping out to a five-point lead early, with 8:41 to go in the half, Life knocked down a three to tie the game at 24 all, Tyson Anderson drained a mid-range jumper to take the lead back and on the next possession Joshua Robertson found Armani Thomas off of a steal and he made a fastbreak three to go up five. After a couple of free throws from the Running Eagles, Deonta Jones made a three of his own to extend the lead to six, both teams traded baskets until Robertson knocked down a three, bringing the margin up to nine. Thomas finished off the second half on a 11-6 run, taking a double-digit lead into the locker room
 
In the second half, the Night Hawks continued the offensive output with Andre Lightbourne hitting a three a minute in, Jones added onto the scoring, slicing through the defense for a layup. The Running Eagles broke off a quick 6-0 run to bring the deficit to five, until Robertson drained another three to go up by eight with 13:50 to go. Life responded a layup and a free throw before knocking down a three of their own to make it a one-possession game. With 12:09 to go, the Running Eagles tied the game at 55 and then a made free throw gave them the lead, Thomas grabbed the lead back with Noah Lattin going two-for-two at the charity stripe, but Life tied the game again on the ensuing possession. Another Robertson three gave the Night Hawks the lead again, but a responding three tied the game once again. The teams continued to trade the lead back and forth until a couple of free throws from Chris Dorbor put the Night Hawks back out in front with 6:17 left in the game. Thomas held the lead until the 3:50 mark in the half when the Running Eagles made all three shots from the foul line to go up two. Down five with 2:13 to go Robertson went to the line drained both shots to be down only three, a layup brought the deficit to five, but Jordan Howe go fouled and went to the line draining one but missing the other, then a three from Life was the back-breaker for Thomas as the Running Eagles held on to win.
 
Robertson finished with a career-high 21 points with 13 of those coming in the second half, he also had five rebounds, four assists and another career high four steals. Jones ended his game with 12 points, six boards, an assist and three steals. Finally, Anderson had 11 points, a rebound and an assist.
 
The Night Hawks will continue their road game stretch going up against University of Mobile on Thursday, January 23 at 7:30PM CST / 8:30PM EST.
