DECATUR, GA | The NIght Hawks (19-30) softball season has come to an end, as they were eliminated fromt he SSAC Softball Championships, presented by Buffalo Wild Wings, on Friday. Thomas fell to Blue Mountain Christian (22-29), 4-3.
In the 3rd innings, Blue Mountain would score first. After a lead off walk and a sacrifice bunt and a bunt single, Thomas would be unable to get an out on a sacrifice bunt, setting up a first base and third base situation. A stolen base and a single would score the run for the Toppers.
Thomas would tie the score in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Hallie Stewart led off the inning with a triple. A one-out sacrifice fly by
Ansley Eason would tie the score at 1-1, as Stewart scored.
The Night Hawks would take the lead in the bottom of the 5th inning.
Averie Sheppard would lead off with an infield single and steal 2nd base.
Ansley Eason would reach base on her sacrifice bunt attempt.
AnnMarie McAfee would draw a walk, to load the bases. A pair of sacrifice flies by
Adreanna Killingsworth and
Annalise Buncy would give the Night Hawks a 3-1 lead.
Blue Mountain would score three runs in the top of the 6th inning to retake the lead, 4-3. Thomas would go down, in order, in the 6th inning. Thomas would threaten in the 7th inning. Sheppard would lead off the inning with a single to left field, and subsequently steal 2nd base. After a strike out, Sheppard would advance to 3rd base on a McAfee ground out. Killingsworth would draw a walk. A pop-up to the shortstop would end the Night Hawks season.
