Night Hawks Drop A Heart-Breaker To Eagles In Extras

Thomas loses 14 inning contest to #10 Faulkner

MONTGOMERY, AL  |  In a game that ended just before midnight Eastern Time, the Night Hawks lost a heart-breaker to the Faulkner Eagles, the #10 team in the nation, 8-7, on Friday night.

The Eagles got on the scoreboard first, by scoring two runs in the 2nd inning, followed by an additional run in the 3rd inning.  

The Night Hawks finally broke the ice, in the 5th inning, by scoring one run.  Jean Pool Checo hit a single up the middle with one out.  Kason Buie would then hit a double to left field, advancing Checo to 3rd base.  Checo would later score on a wild pitch.

Thomas would add another run, in the 6th inning.  Elias Garcia would draw a lead off walk.  Max Pickert would knock a single, to left field, putting runners on 1st and 2nd base.  Mike Sowers would drive Garcia home, with a single to left-center field.  Thomas would trail 3-2, after the 6th inning.

Faulkner would pick up two runs, each, in the 7th inning and 8th inning, to increase the Thomas deficit to 7-2.

Down to their last inning, Thomas would rally to tie the game.  Turner Maddox would start the rally with a lead-off single.  Garcia would follow with a single, of his own.  A wild pitch to Max Pickert would move the runners to 2nd base and 3rd base.  Pickert would ultimately draw the walk, to load the bases.  Easton Willis would earn a bases-on-balls, to bring nome Maddox.  A Cameron Tyson double to left center would score Pickert and Garcia.  Bryce Pitting, who pinch hit for Checo, would draw a walk.  Nuie would hit a sacrifice fly to center field, to score Willlis.  JT Whatley, who pinch hit for Brayton Lawhon, would double down the right field line, to score Tyson, and tie the game a 7-7.

The game would go into extra innings, with neither team able to earn a hit until the 14th inning.  In the top of the 14th inning, Cameron Rosario would lead off the inning with a walk.  Rosario would advance to 2nd base, on a passed ball, with two outs.  Max Pickert would get an infield single, to set up a 1st base and 3rd base situation, for the Night hawks.  But the Night Hawks would be unable to score.

In the bottom of the 14th inning, the lead off batter would get  a single.  The next batter would get an infield single.  Thomas would fail to get an out on the sacrifice bunt attempt.  A single to left field would end the game, as Thomas would lose in the walk off.  

Cameron Tyson would lead the Thomas with three hits and two RBIs, on the day.  Elias Garcia would score twice for the Night Hawks.
