Night Hawks Split Series With Knights

Night Hawks Split Series With Knights

Thomasville, GA | The Thomas University Softball Team took game one from the Knights of #24 Middle Georgia State University on Friday afternoon.

Game One

The contest would begin in a pitcher's duel and would remain scoreless through four and a half innings. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Night Hawks would strike first. An Ansley Eason sacrifice fly to right field would allow Kristen Stellar, who singled, to score. Eason's RBI would give the Night Hawks a one run advantage.

In the following inning, the Night Hawks would plate one additional run on two hits. Adreanna Killingsworth would single to kickstart the inning. Then, an Annalise Buncy single to right field would allow Lauren Hicks, who pinch ran for Killingsworth, to cross the plate.

Dale Elmore would produce a dominant performance in the circle, preventing the Knights from mounting a comeback. In six innings pitched, Elmore held the nationally ranked Knight offense to just one hit, no earned runs, while tallying three strikeouts.

In the contest, the Night Hawks outhit the Knights 2-6. Six different Night Hawks would record a hit.

Game Two

The Knights would strike first in the second contest. In the top of the second inning, they would plate three runs on one hit and one Night Hawk error.

AnnMarie McAfee would provide a response in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Eason sixty feet away, McAfee would send a sacrifice fly to deep center field that would plate Eason.

However, in the top of the sixth inning, the Knights would respond in a large way. They would plate three runs on four hits to further extend their lead. In the following inning, they would use one hit to add an additional run to their total.

Heading into the final inning of play, the Night Hawks would trail the Knights 7-1.

Kristen Stellar would lead off the seventh inning with a solo homerun to cut into the deficit. However, the Night Hawks would fail to produce any additional runs and would fall to the Knights, 7-2.
