MOUNT VERNON, GA |  After droping the opening game, of the three-game series, against Brewton-Parker (14-12, 6-6 SSAC), the Night Hawks (16-8, 6-6 SSAC) picked up victories in both games of the doubleheader, played on Friday, to take the series, 2-1. With the victory, Thomas has won its last two SSAC baseball series.

GAME ONE (THOMAS 9, BREWTON-PARKER 5)

Just as in game one of the series, Thomas would score two runs in the top of the 1st inning.  For the second time this season, Kason Buie would begin the game with a lead off home run (3rd HR on the season). Turner Maddox would follow the homerun by walking. Maddox would ultimately score on when Cameron Tyson reached first base on an error, scoring the Night Hawks second run.

In the 3rd inning, Maddox would reach on an error.  He would score when Tyson doubled to centerfield, plating Thomas' third run.  Brewton-Parker would score two runs in the bottom of the inning to set the score at 3-2, in favor of Thomas, after three innings.

Thomas would add another run in the 4th inning after an Elias Garcia double, and the second wild pitch of the inning allowed Garcia to score.  The Night Hawks would tack on four additional runs in the 5th inning.  A two-run home run by Cameron Tyson would bring Max Pickert in on the bomb.  Mike Sowers and Matthew Williams would continue the hit parade with a single, on the next at bat.  Sowers would eventually score on a wild pitch. Williams would come home on a Buie fielder's choice.  Thomas led 8-2, entering the bottom of the 5th inning.

Thomas would give up two runs in the bottom of the 5th inning, and another run in the bottom of the 6th inning, to bring the score to 8-5.  A Mike Sowers big fly to left field, to lead off the 7th inning, would give the Night Hawks an insurance run.  Thomas would be victorious, 9-5.

Eddie Camolilla would pick up his third victory on the season for Thomas.  Cameron Tyson, Mike Sowers, and Elias Garcia would each get two hits in the game.  Kason Buie, Cameron Tyson, and Mike Sowers would each hit a round-tripper in the contest.

GAME TWO (THOMAS 18, BREWTON-PARKER 15)

In a game where the score looked more like a football game, than a baseball game, Thomas would come from behind, in the 9th inning, to defeat Brewton-Parker, 18-15.

Thomas would not get off to their usual hot start in this game.  The Night Hawks would be down 4-0, after two innings, with the Barons scoring two runs in each inning. Thomas would finally get on the scoreboard in the 3rd inning, when a Max Pickert double, to center field, would plate Cameron Tyson and Turner Maddox.  The two runs, cut the Thomas deficit to 4-2. Thomas would, however, give up three additional runs, in the bottom of the 3rd inning, and trail 7-2, after three complete innings.

The Night Hawks would cut into the Baron lead, in the top of the 4th inning, when Luis Torres would score on a Brayden Lawhon groundout.  Gabe Tafelski would score on a wild pitch, trimming the Brewton-Parker advantage to 7-4.  The Baron would add four runs to their total, in the bottom of the 4th inning, and an additional two runs in the bottom of the 5th inning, increasing the score to 13-4.

The Night Hawks bats would then wake up. Elias Garcia would drive home Talfelski and Mike Sowers for 2 RBIs. The Night Hawks would get their run back when Lawhon doubled to left-center, to score Luis Torres.  After another Barons run in the bottom of the 7th inning, Thomas would get two more runs, off the bat of Cameron Tyson, when he hit his third home run of the day (second of the game), to bring in Maddox in front of him. Thomas trailed 15-13, entering the bottom of the 8th inning.

Sam Odiorne was able to hold the Barons scoreless in the 8th inning, setting up the comeback attempt in the 9th inning.  Garcia would lead off the inning with a single.  The Barons, apparently having seen Cameron Tyson's bat do enough damage, intentionally walk him, despite Tyson being the potential game-tying run. Garcia and Tyson would move up a base, each, on a passed ball. Pickert would draw a walk. Sowers would get an infield single, to score Garcia. With the score 15-14, Matt Williams would hit a 2 RBI double to right-center, scoring Pickert and Tyson. Talfelski would score on a throwing error, that should have ended the inning.

Odiorne would pitch another scoreless inning to pick up the vicory for the Night Hawks.  Mike Sowers would get three hits in the game.  Max Pickert would knock two doubles during the contest.  Cameron Tyson would collect six RBIs, all via the long ball, as he knocked two home runs during the game.
