Thomas Comes Up Short Against Life

THOMASVILLE, GA | The Thomas Night Hawks were unable to knock off Life University at "The Nest" on Saturday, falling 79-72 to the Running Eagles.

The Night Hawks fell behind early in the contest. Deonta Jones opened the scoring on the day, with a driving layup.  Life would quickly take the lead, thereafter, in the 1st half.  Jailin Lee would hit a 3-pointer to tie the score at nine, each, with 15:09 remaining in the 1st half.  From there, the Running Eagles would open up as much as a 16-point lead in the 1st half.  The Night Hawks would ultimately trail by 15-points at intermission.

The Running Eagles would open up their largest lead of the game, 17-points, on a dunk by the Running Eagles, with 18:16 remaining in the game.  The Night Hawks, then, woke up and outscored the Running Eagles, 31-13, over the next ten minutes of action, and take a one-point lead.  Thomas would extend their lead, to six-points, with 6:26 left in the game, on a pair of free throws by Tyson Anderson.

A Life 3-pointer, with 3:44 remaining, would spell doom for the Night Hawks.  The basket would give Life a one-point lead.  Once Life regained the lead, they would outscore Thomas, 9-3, to close out the game, and give the Night Hawks the loss at home.

Life would connect on 51.7% of their field goals on the day, along with 76.9% of their free throws.  Thomas would shoot 43.8% from the field, including 41.2% from behind the arc.  Thomas knocked down 69.2% of their free throws.  

Four Night Hawks would score in double digits.  Jailin Lee would lead Thomas in scoring with 23 points.  Deonta Jones would add 14 points and five assists.  Tyson Anderson would chip in 10 points and lead the team in rebounds with eight.  Keon Williams would contribute 10 points and five rebounds, off the bench.  Devin Baney would have two crucial blocks.
