THOMASVILLE, Ga | The Thomas University baseball team opened their first homestand of the 2024 season with a three games series against the Talladega College Tornadoes.
In game one, the Tornadoes took an early 1 - 0 lead in the first inning with a sacrifice fly. The Night Hawks roared back in the bottom of the third inning by scoring four runs, leadoff batter M.Sowers walked, E. Garcia singled to third base and advanced to second on an error, T. Maddox singled to centerfield to bring in two runs, K. Buie was hit by a pitch, L. Torres was intentionally walked, E. Willis walked to force in a run, and G. Tafelski grounded into a fielder's choice to bring in the fourth run.
Talladega chipped away one run in the top of the fourth after scoring on a balk. In the top of the fourth inning M. Sowers blasted a ball over the left field wall to extend the Night Hawks lead to 5 - 2. The Night Hawks added to their lead in the seventh by scoring on a balk, and in the eighth inning from an RBI single by K. Buie. Thomas University ran away with a 7 - 2 victory and move to (3 - 0) in the early season.

Nick Brady earned the win for the Night Hawks with 3.0 innings of work, allowing four hits, one run, and four strikeouts.
Junior
Mike Sowers went 1-for-2 at the plate with one RBI, with the Night Hawks first home run of the 2024 season in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Kason Buie went 3-for-3 at the plate with one RBI, including a double to lead off the seventh inning. Buie has also reached base in 13 Consecutive plate appearances to start the season.
