THOMASVILLE, GA | Thomas entered the rubber match against Stillman on Saturday, looking to win their first conference series since going the SSAC. Having won game one, but falling short of a miricle comeback in game two, the Night Hawks gave up a late lead, and fell to the Tigers. Gave three would be an offensive explosion for both teams.
The Night Hawks bat would continue to be hot, early in the contest. Thomas got on the scoreboard first by plating six runs, in the bottom of the 1st inning.
Kason Buie would score on a fielder choice on a ball hit by
Cameron Tyson.
Hunter Kern would then score on a passed ball.
Michael Sowers would steal 2nd base, as part of a double steal. Cam Tyson would subsequently steal home, for the third Thomas run. Sowers would score when
Brayden Lawhon would draw a bases-loaded walk. Buie would bat a second time in the inning, and drive in
Riley Borgert and
Bryce Bitting. Thomas would lead 6-0 after the 1st inning.
Stillman would score two runs in the 2nd inning, and an additional three runs in the 4rd inning, reducing the Night Hawk lead to 6-5. Thomas would add four runs to their total, in the bottomof the 3rd inning. Sowers would score on a wild pitch. Bitting would score on a Buie single. A 2 RBI double by
JT Whatley would plate
Hunter Kern and Buie. Thomas would go up 10-5, after three innings.
Stillman would score three runs, to cut the Thomas lead to 10-8, in the 4th inning. Thomas would add an additional run in the bottom of the 7th inning. A
Matthew Williams sacrifice fly would score Buie. Entering the 8th inning, the Night Hawks owned a 11-8 lead.
Stillman would tie the score in the 8th inning, and then take a one-run lead, in the top of the 9th inning. Thomas would tie the contest, 12-12, and send the game into extra innings on a RBI single by
Max Pickert, to score
Gabe Tafelski.
Stillman would score two runs in the 10th inning, giving the Tigers a 14-12 lead. Thomas would load the bases in the bottom of the 10th inning, but be unable to score a run, and fall to the Tigers, 14-12, to drop the series, 1-2.
Kason Buie would go 4/5 on the day, with three RBI and three runs scored.
JT Whatley would go 4/6 and drive in two runs.
Bryce Bitting would end the day 3/5, with two runs scored and one RBI.
The Night Hawks will face Middle Georgia, in a three-game series this weekend. The single game is scheduled for Friday Night, at Varnedoe Stadium, beginning at 6pm.
