HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Thomas Night Hawks faced conference foe William Carey in a tight matchup and fell 2-1 at Danny Owens Field on Wednesday afternoon.
The Crusaders struck first in the 17
th minute with a Jamie Wynne goal with an assist by Billy Boag. The score stood still for 58 minutes until Crusader Milos Stajkovic found the back of the net with help from Alessandro Villarrea.
The Night Hawks continued to hold and found a way in the 88
th minute when
Cameron Hawkins connected with
Jake Wright who put the Night Hawks on the board. The Night Hawks followed up with a few last-minute chances on
James Hall corner kicks but were not able to convert.
Jorge Gonzalez stood all 90 minutes in goal with four saves. Thomas totaled five shots with two on goal.
This marks the 5
th contest this season where the Night Hawks have faced a ranked opponent.
Thomas picks up SSAC play once again on the road when they travel the Jungle to face the No. 7 Mobile Rams on Saturday at 6:00 PM.
