THOMASVILLE, GA- The Thomas University Men's Soccer team played their home opener against SCAD Savannah. This being a morning game, it didn't stop the teams from playing at a fast, up-tempo pace.
In the first 39 minutes of the game both teams were searching for the first goal. The shot count was 6 to 3, Thomas' way. In the 40th minute, Connor Parry was able to assist Diego Azar to give Thomas a 1-0 lead.
In the second period the Bees were able to score a goal to even the game back up 1-1 off of a goal from Fabian Ekblom. Thomas didn't take long to respond. 8 minutes later, James Hall was able to find Aaron Sindhar to break the score again and give Thomas a 2-1 lead. SCAD showed they still had something left in the tank. In the 80th minute, Caio Lara was able to tie the match up once again. Like the Night Hawks had done all day, they were able to respond. Four minutes went by, and Findlay Cook was able to find Diego Azar for his second goal of the day to give Thomas the 3-2 lead and ultimately the win!
In total, the Night Hawks finished the day with twelve total shots with five on goal and a total of 6 corner kicks. The Bees recorded eight total shots with four on goal and five corner kicks. Thomas' Connor Friel and SCAD's Jamair Stewart both totaled two saves.
NEXT UP: The Night Hawks are set to play Saturday September 8th against Florida College. Kickoff is scheduled for 10am.
