The Thomas Night Hawks dropped all three games in their final series versus the Southeastern Fire, the top team in NAIA. During the first two games of the series, Thomas gave Southeastern all that it could handle but could not gain a victory, losing the first game 2-0, and taking the second game into extra innings, before falling, 7-6, in 11 innings. Southeastern's looked like one of the top teams in the nation in game three, defeating the Night Hawks 12-2, in 8 innings.Â
The Night Hawks improved on their win total from a season ago, both in conference and overall. Thomas doubled their conference victories with six wins this season, in arguably, the top baseball conference in NAIA. The Sun Conference typically sees five of the six teams that qualify for its conference tournament, make the national tournament. Two of the previous four NAIA champions and a runner-up have come from the Sun Conference, including the defending champions, Southeastern. Â
Over the weekend, three Night Hawks batted over .400 for the series:Â Â
Luis Rodriguez-Gallo (.500), Jose Class (.500), andÂ
Khadin Bastian (.400).Â
Brooks Rikeman was the only Night Hawks with multiple RBIs with two.Â
Bradley Peacock had the best pitching performance for Thomas, allowing only two runs (one earned) in six innings pitched.
