Night Hawks End Regular Season With Doubleheader Victories

Thomas defeats Trinity Baptist to close out schedule.

The Night Hawks (24-21, 11-13 SUN) defeated the Trinity Baptist Eagles (6-37, 3-1 NCCAA) to close out their regular season, on a positive note, as they get ready to enter next week's Sun Conference Tournament.  As the Night Hawks honored eight seniors, they would go on to defeat Trinity, 11-2, in game one, and 4-0, in game two.  Thomas will have the weekend off before heading to Clearwater, FL for the Sun Conference Tournament, where they will be either the fifth or the sixth seed.  All other Sun Conference softball teams are in action this weekend, and the Night Hawks will await the outcomes to see their final position and first round opponent.

Game One

Averie Sheppard, as usual, reached base to lead off the game, this time via a walk.  She would later come around to score on Addyson Mauldin's single to center field.

In the 2nd inning, Ava Nunez would get a single.  She later scored on a Eagle error.  Sheppard would get an infield single to score Sierra Tanner, who had reached on a fielder's choice.  Taylor Jordan, who reached base via an error, would score on a Holly Campbell single.  Jaelynn Vialpando collected an infield single to drive home Campbell.  Haley Price would get an RBI by singling home Mauldin.

In the 4th inning, Campbell would get a double to score Sheppard.  Campbell would come home when Price reached on an error.  In the 5th inning, Campbell would collect two more RBIs when her single scored Jordan and Tanner.  Kennedy Hardy would hit a pinch-hit homerun to end the game via the run-rule in the 6th inning.

Senior Leanne Lain would pitch four inning, while giving up only one run.  Senior Michelle Norvell closed out the game by pitching two innings, and giving up one run.

Game Two

Adreanna Killingsworth led off the 4th inning with a walk.  Faith Graben pinch ran for Killingsworth.  Graben would score on Elizabeth Soto's infield single, to open up the scoring for the Night Hawks.  Thomas would add three additional runs in the 5th inning.  Emma Alley led off with a double and scored on Mauldin's single.  Killingsworth hit a round-tripper to score Mauldin and herself, to close out the Night Hawk scoring.

Taylor Currie and Dale Elmore would combine for the six-hit shut out for the Night Hawks.
