Thomas Splits with Keiser in Baseball

Rubber match scheduled for noon Saturday

Thomas splits a doubleheader with Keiser as the Night Hawks attempt to reach the sixth position in the Sun Conference baseball standings, which will give Thomas a playoff opportunity.

Game One

This game saw the two teams combine for 22 runs during the almost three-and-a-half hour marathon, while the two teams combined to use ten pitchers, with no one lasting more than three innings.  Keiser used six pitchers, with Parker Grahe lasting three innings.  Jacob Pino and Bradley Peacock each tossed three innings for the Night Hawks.  The two teams combined for 26 hits, while committing two errors, each.

Luis Rodriguez-Gallo
Rodriguez-Gallo goes 5-5 in Game One

The only inning where neither team scored was the fifth inning.  Thomas plated three run each in the 2nd, 4th, and 7th inning, and score single runs in the 3rd, 6th, and 8th inning.

Luis Rodriguez-Gallo would go 5-for-5 in the game, with four RBIs.  Kason Buie would collect three hits, two RBIs, and score a run.  Bradley Fleenor would add two hits and two RBIs, including his third homerun in three consecutive games.  Matthew Delay Jr.Khadin Bastian, and Cam Williams each scored two runs.  Bradley Peacock, who came in relief of the starter, would earn his fourth win of the season.

Game Two

Keiser would score eight runs through the first three innings, before being blanked by the Night Hawks for the remainder of the game.  Unfortunately for Thomas, they were only able to muster up five runs.  Both teams had 11 hits in the game.

Delay would lead off the second game with a towering homerun to left field.  The Night Hawks would score an additional three runs in the 3rd inning.  A double by Delay, a Bastian walk, a Williams double, and a Fleenor double, in four consecutive at-bats, would lead to the Thomas runs scored in the 3rd inning.

Thomas would score the final game run of the day on a Baisten double that drove home Delay for his third run scored in the game, and fifth run of the day.  AJ Wydra would pitch a complete game, despite earning the loss for the Night Hawks.  Wydra's nine inning complete game was the first nine inning complete game of the season for the Night Hawks.

Thomas trails Keiser by two games for the sixth and final Sun Conference baseball tournament slot.  The all-important rubber match will take place on Saturday at noon.  Although Thomas cannot catch Keiser in the standings during this series, a victory Saturday will give the Night Hawks the tie-breaker at the end of the season.
