Box Score GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Thomas University softball team plated seven runs in the fourth inning on Friday to down Saint Xavier, 7-2, in the Gulf Shores Invitational Tournament.

Saint Xavier scored one run in the second inning to take the early lead, but the Night Hawks collected four hits to score seven runs in the fourth.

With one out,
Addyson Mauldin drew a walk, then
Adreanna Killingsworth sent an RBI double to left field.
Jaelynn Vialpando and
Ava Nunez each drew walks to load the bases in time for
Emma Alley to double to center, driving in a pair of runs.
Elizabeth Soto then singled to center to plate Nunez.

After a pitching change by Saint Xavier,
Grace Hodges grounded out. Then both Alley and Soto scored on wild pitches. With two outs, Averie Shepard drew a walk then stole second to get into scoring position.
Hailie Stewart singled to left, driving in the team's seventh run of the inning.

Saint Xavier added one run in the bottom of the fifth, but Thomas held on to win, 7-2.

Killingsworth led the team with three hits.

Amber Griffin pitched 5.0 innings, allowing two runs from two hits, striking out four and walking three.
Briana Boggs came in for 2.0 scoreless innings, giving up just three hits and recording one strikeout.

The Night Hawks are back in action Saturday with two games, facing Campbellsville University at noon and LSU-Alexandria at 2 p.m. in the Gulf Shores Invitational Tournament in Alabama.
