LAKELAND, Fla. – The Thomas University softball team lost a pair of games, 8-0 and 3-2, to No. 17 Southeastern University Wednesday afternoon in Sun Conference action.

The Night Hawks next face Ave Maria University this weekend at Armory Field in Thomasville, Ga. The teams play a Friday double header beginning at 1 p.m., then first pitch on Saturday is at noon.

Game One
Southeastern plated two runs in the first and six in the second, and held Thomas scoreless in SEU's 8-0, five-inning outing. The Night Hawks allowed just six hits from the nationally ranked opponent, but TU made five errors in the game. Thomas left six runners stranded in the game.

Megan Monk and
Addyson Mauldin each tagged one hit in the game.

Dale Elmore (5H, 7R, 2ER, 2BB) pitched the first 1.1 innings, then
Taylor Currie (1H, 1ER, 5BB) finished the final 2.2 innings.

Game Two
Thomas held a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, but Southeastern scored two runs in the frame to walk off with a 3-2 win.

Averie Sheppard went 2-for-4 with one run scored and
Jaelynn Vialpando was 2-for-3 at the plate.

Leanne Lain allowed three runs, two earned, from 10 hits and struck out one in 6.1 innings.
