MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Thomas University men's basketball team took Florida Memorial University to the final buzzer Saturday, falling 83-82 at the FMU Wellness Center.

Thomas University led 24-22 halfway through the first half, and didn't lead again until there were 30 seconds left in the game.

Jarvis Brown tied the game at 80 with a jumper in the paint with 1:15 remaining, then swiped a steal and was fouled. He hit a pair of free throws to put TU up 82-80 with 31 seconds left. FMU tied the game at 82 with a layup with 10 seconds left, then went ahead, 83-82, after TU played the fouling game and FMU hit the second free throw of two attempts.

After a TU full time out, Thomas took a shot in the paint that missed, got the offensive rebound and missed the second attempt as time expired.

The Night Hawks trailed by as many as 11 points in the second half.

TU falls to 15-7 overall and 8-5 in the Sun Conference.

Mohammed Abubakar scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season.

Jordan Booker dished out nine assists, grabbed seven rebounds and scored 12 points while
Jarvis Brown led the team with 24 points, hitting a trio of 3-pointers.

Thomas shot 47.0 percent (31-66) from the field and outrebounded FMU, 37-32.

The Night Hawks next host Webber International University Feb. 9 in the final home game of the season. Â
