ALBANY, Ga. – The Thomas University baseball team lost, 10-6, to Albany State University Wednesday at ASU West Campus Stadium.

Thomas next hosts University of Fort Lauderdale this weekend in the home opener at Varnedoe Stadium. Friday night the teams face off at 6 p.m., then Saturday the first pitch of the double header will be at noon.

On Wednesday, Albany took a 7-0 lead after four innings before Thomas plated a pair of runs in the fifth off a
Cam Williams double to right.

The Night Hawks added four more runs in the sixth from four hits. With one out,
Khadin Bastian was hit by a pitch and stole second base.
Kason Buie drew a walk, but was thrown out at second on a fielder's choice, hit by
Michael Sowers. Sowers then stole second base.

With two outs,
Josh Johnson and Matthew Delay, Jr., hit back-to-back infield base hits to drive in two runs.
Jean Pool Checo hit an RBI-double to left, and Williams singled to left to plate the final two runs of the inning, drawing the score within one.

With a 7-6 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth, Albany State added two runs in the sixth and one in the eighth to take the 10-6 victory.

Delay, Jr., Checo and Williams each had a pair of hits in the game.

Pitcher
Jacob Granger took the loss for the Night Hawks, allowing seven runs from eight hits in 3.1 innings.
Bradley Peacock came in for relief, striking out three in 1.2 innings, and
Jacob Pino closed the game, striking out four while allowing three runs from four hits.

Thomas drops to 4-11 overall while ASU improves to 5-2 on the season.
