Montgomery, AL | Thomas fell to Mobile, 1-0, in the SSAC tournament in Montgomery, AL. Â The loss is the first defeat for the Night Hawks since September 28. Â The loss drops the Night Hawks' record to 10-4-4.
The Rams and the Night Hawks, two of the top defensive teams in the conference, battled throughout the first half. Â Neither team was able to muster a goal. Â Each team had two of their shots being on-goal. Â Thomas took a total of four attempts, and Mobile took a total of six attempts, in the first half.
The nin-nil draw at the half was the third scoreless half for these two teams this season. Â The second half was more of the same for the two teams, with both teams focussing on their defense.
In the 84th minute, Mobile would take a free kick in Thomas territory, and head the ball in for the score. Â With Thomas trailing, the Night Hawks would attempt to turn up the offense, but were not able to get a shot on goal in the final minutes of the match.
Thomas will now await the announcement of the NAIA at-large selections. Â The announcement will be made on Monday.
