Lakes Wales, FL- The Thomas University women's basketball team(1-6, 1-2) traveled to Lake Wales, FL on Wednesday afternoon to take on Warner University (4-2, 2-2).
Thomas would find themselves in a hole early, as Warner would score 30 points in the first quarter. The Night Hawks would make some adjustments heading into the second quarter and win the period 19-15. At the half, the Night Hawks would trail Warner, 45-34.
The third quarter would be highlighted by several offensive runs from both teams, but Warner would win the quarter by one point. As the fourth quarter began, Thomas would trail 49-61. Despite this deficit, the Night Hawks would prove they still had some fight left. They would come storming back to go on a 19-7 run that would be capped by a crucial three by freshman Tara Llorente to bring the Night Hawks within two with 1:14 left in regulation. However, Warner would then answer with a made jumper and free throw of their own. Then, the Royals would close the game out with several made baskets from the charity stripe. Despite Thomas' great comeback effort, Warner would take the victory, 73-68.
Jasmyn Studamire recorded 15 points and 9 rebounds. Ryann Woodley recorded 13 points and 7 rebounds. Dejah Wilson recorded 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals. Tieraney Bolton added 11 points.
NEXT UP: Thomas will host Coastal Georgia on November 27th in a non-conference game. Tip off is set for 5:30 PM in the TU gymnasium.
