Brunswick, GA- The Thomas University Women's basketball team (1-3, 1-0) traveled to Brunswick, Georgia this afternoon to take on the Coastal Georgia Mariners (3-3, 0-0).
The Mariners would get off to a quick start by taking a 7-0 lead to begin the first quarter. Thomas would then produce a few points of their own, but ultimately the Mariners would take a 20-11 lead heading into the second period.
In the second quarter both teams would shoot 33% from the field to score 13 points a piece.
The Night Hawks would find themselves down 33-24 to start the third period.
Thomas would come out of the half, and go on a run. The Night Hawks would win the quarter 19-9 and take the lead heading into the final period of play.
In the fourth quarter, there would be several lead changes as both teams fought hard to earn the win. In the closing minutes of the contest, the Mariners would connect on a three-pointer to give them a 6 point lead. The Night Hawks would storm back with two baskets of their own, and force a five second violation. With a two point deficit, Thomas would attempt to tie the game with a layup, but unfortunately this missed layup attempt would result in a jump ball. The Mariners would gain possession and take a 61-57 win.
Sheridan Green recorded 14 points and shot 3-4 from three point range. Dejah Wilson recorded 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals. Destiny Hill recorded 13 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Jasmyn Studamire recorded 9 points and 10 rebounds.
The Night Hawks shot 32% from the field.
NEXT UP: Thomas will travel to Mobile, AL on Thursday to take on the University of Mobile. Tip off is set for 6:30 PM on November, 16th.
