MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Thomas University men's soccer team lost its SUN Conference opener Saturday morning, falling to the nationally ranked Bobcats from St. Thomas University.
The Night Hawks (3-4-1, 0-1-0 SUN) went down early in the contest, as #4 St. Thomas took an early lead and never looked back in the matchup. The Bobcats scored within the first 20 minutes off a long cross, before the game headed to halftime.
The Night Hawks would generate three contests in the half before intermission, and tested the keeper with all three attempts but were unable to break through. First, Giacomo Bacigalupo's shot in the 20th minute was saved before Diego Sanchez's and James Hall's opportunities were sent away late in the first half.
After a long lightning delay the Bobcats started quick in the second half with Fernando Arzeno tallying his fourth goal of the season from a pass from Pascal Agostini to put the Bobcats up 2-0.
The Bobcats then continued to pile on the pressure firing a multitude of shots before adding their final goal of the game in the 71st minute.
Shortly after the goal in the 71st, the game was called due to weather.
