MARIETTA, Ga. — The Thomas University women's soccer team suffered a tough 6-1 loss Friday night to Life University.
The short-handed Night Hawks fell behind early, as the Running Eagles captured their first goal in the 10th minute.
The impressive offensive display for Life continued throughout the first half, as Life U's leading goal-scorer Thora Hreggvidsdottir tallied a first half hat trick to put the team up 4-0 midway through.
In the second half, Thomas came out with resurgence striking first in the 56th minute. As Analeice Wilkes tallied a goal to narrow the gap 4-1, the senior has now scored in each of her last four games, and has scored an impressive 12 goals on the season.
With the odds stacked against them, the Night Hawks continued to battle in the second half, creating notable opportunities from veteran attackers Analeice Wilkes and Matti Campbell. Life University goalkeeper Lisset Ruiz-Franco proved to be a force in the net, grabbing eight saves, as the overwhelming Life U attack scored another two goals.
Life's final two goals of the game came in the 71st and 88th minute, as it wasn't meant to be for Thomas University's women's soccer team Friday night.
In total, the contest featured seven goals, 20 shots on net (nine for TU, eleven for Life U), 13 saves, eleven corners, and 19 fouls.
TU's Hannah Keene played all 90 minutes in goal recording five saves in the loss.
Up next, Thomas will host its final non-conference home game of the season next Wednesday, September 21st. Kickoff at the TU Soccer Complex against #23 Georgia Gwinnett is scheduled for 4 pm.
