BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Thomas University baseball team could not overcome a slow start as #25 Webber International took down the Night Hawks 14-3 in eight innings Friday night at (now) Brad Niethammer Field.
TU (18-30, 2-20 SUN) registered eight hits in the contest that included 2-for-4 performances from Freshman
Matthew Delay Jr. and Sophomore
Turner Maddox. Freshman
Khadin Bastian led the Night Hawks hitting two of three. Freshman Left-Hander
Riley Fisher (3-10) had a long day at the mound, throwing 102 pitches in five innings to allow seven runs off eight hits while fanning five.
Trailing 7-0 in the sixth inning, Bastian blasted a deep shot over centerfield to record home runs in back-to-back contests. After the Warriors (36-16, 11-11 SUN) went three up three down, Thomas tacked on two more runs thanks to Freshman
Nick Talpa's first-career moonblast over the left field wall to cut the deficit to four runs (7-3).
After recording a RBI triple in the bottom of the seventh, Webber International proceeded to score six runs in the eighth to run-rule Thomas and take a 14-3 win in Game One.
