Thomasville, Ga. — The Thomas University Softball team will travel this weekend for another SUN Conference series, this time facing the Seahawks from Keiser University in West Palm.
The Night Hawks sit at 7-8 in conference play and 20-14 overall after the team's most recent series loss to #10 Coastal Georgia.
Even with the the series loss, the Night Hawks were able to take game two of the series, winning 12-6 after stellar hitting and solid pitching performances from junior Leanne Laine and senior Larran Carter.
After the series, the Night Hawks are now tied with Warner in the SUN's playoff push, with Keiser currently sitting two places outside the playoff picture with an extra series played.
Inside the pitching circle both teams field impressive starting pitchers with senior Larran Carter (12-6) leading the way for the Night Hawks, while junior Leanne Laine (4-3) provided the team's lone win in the Coastal Georgia series.
In the other dugout, the Seahawks field a pair of underclassmen pitchers with freshman Lizzy Small and sophomore Kelsie Merriman splitting their time as the teams primary starter.
Additionally, Small leads the team in hits and batting average while Adreanna Killingsworth remains at the top in both of those categories for the Night Hawks.
The SUN Conference series is set to begin with a doubleheader on Friday at 2 p.m., while Saturday's single game is scheduled for 11 a.m.
