Night Hawks Run Away with Pair of Wins

THOMASVILLE, Ga. — The Thomas University softball team continued the weekend flawless Saturday, as the Night Hawks earned two dominant wins against Lyon College and Southeastern Baptist.

First, the Night Hawks (8-6, 0-0 SUN) faced off against Lyon (0-10, 0-0 AMC) Saturday afternoon, carrying Friday's 8-0 win into the contest against LC, winning 3-1 in a come from behind win.
The scoring started in the third, with LC's starting pitcher Georgia Holzer bringing in the first run of the contest, the double to center field found a gap and bought Celsey Wood home giving the Scotts their lone lead of the contest, 1-0.

The Night Hawks would follow with a response in the fourth, as Michaela Farr drove Holly Campbell into score with a single to right field tying the ballgame at one apiece.

After that, the Night Hawks would follow with a stolen base home, as Michaela Farr extended the lead to 2-0 with Farr scoring after a failed pickoff attempt at second.

Thomas would again pick up with an additional run in the fifth, as Adreanna Killingsworth's sacrifice fly brought Averie Sheppard home for the final run of the contest, 3-1.

Game two of the day saw the Night Hawks play Southeastern Baptist College, successfully routing the Chargers 9-1 in five innings.

TU took no time to score in the first, opening the contest with four runs in the opening frame with Killingsworth carrying her solid hitting performance from game one into game two, registering a pair of RBIs in the first inning.

The Night Hawks then scored three more runs in the second, as Hunter Williams started the inning with a solo leadoff home run, 5-0.

After that, Killingsworth brought in her final RBI of the day, as her single to left field brought in Chauntivia Cliatt, 6-0. Annmarie Mcafee's single to center field would bring in an additional run with TU now carrying a 7-0 lead into the bottom of the third.

An additional run in the third extended the lead to 8-0, but shortly after that, the Chargers would go on to find its lone run of the contest after an infield error and passed ball set up Hannah Newsome on third.

A sacrifice fly to center field then drove in Newsome from third, narrowing the lead to 8-1, taking the game into the fifth.

Then, in the fifth, TU would increase its lead one last time, winning the game due to run-rule, 9-1.
