COCHRAN, Ga. – The Thomas University baseball team squared off against its fourth, nationally-ranked opponent in #16 Middle Georgia State, but Friday afternoon would be destined for more growing pains for the young Night Hawks' squad, as TU fell to the Knights 24-4 in seven innings at Stuckey Field.
Thomas (15-16, 0-9 SUN) recorded eight hits on the day, as several Night Hawks went 1-for-3 at the plate. Freshman
Khadin Bastian's lone hit resulted in a RBI triple.
On the mound, four pitchers were used, as Sophomore
Bradley Peacock (0-3) started on the mound to allow six runs off two hits with four walks in 50 pitches thrown.
The Green & White found its first run of the contest in the fourth inning, as Sophomore
Luis Torres scored to cut TU's deficit to 7-1.
In the sixth inning, Thomas saw its best showing from the batter's box, scoring three runs and two hits. TU was in position to begin a comeback attempt with the bases loaded before Sophomore
Turner Maddox struck to retire the sides.
The Night Hawks conclude the series Saturday with a doubleheader against the Knights. The first pitch is slated for Noon.
