TU Blanked by #1 SEU

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University baseball team was able to limit the scoring from #1 Southeastern, but the Night Hawks came up empty at the plate, unable to produce runs as Thomas fell 6-0 to the Fire in Game One Friday at Varnedoe Stadium.

Game One (#1 SEU 6, TU 0)
The Green & White (13-13, 0-7 SUN) recorded four hits against SEU pitcher Robb Adams (7-0), while Thomas allowed 10 hits in the contest.  Sophomore Right-Hander Bradley Peacock (0-2) pitched a full six innings, allowing just seven hits and two earned runs while fanning three from the Fire (27-1, 4-0 SUN) hitting unit.  Redshirt Freshman Cameron Rosario hit 2-of-3 at the batter's box that included a double and two stolen bases in the contest.

After both sides went three-up three-down to start the game, Peacock produced two quick outs before Southeastern put up a pair of runs in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead.  The Night Hawks were in position to cash in on potential in bottom of the fourth with runners on second and third with two outs before a flyout kept Thomas scoreless.  Peacock saw a similar, second-inning scenario in the fifth inning, knocking down the first two at-bats before the Fire strung together a sequence of stolen bases and hits to ultimately add another pair of runs to extend its lead 4-0.

The Red, Black & White would finish the contest adding two more runs to complete a 6-0 shutout of the Night Hawks.

Game Two
The Fire grabbed a quick run in the first two hunderstat-bats, as a major outfield blunder allowed Abdel Guadalupe to take a base hit and round additional bases to head all the way to third before an Issac Nunez grounder brought home the Fifth-Year for the first score of Game Two.

Southeastern extended the scoring in the third and fourth innings, adding three runs apiece.  The Fire put together a string of hits in Inning 3 before a Brian Fuentes three-run blast in Inning 4 extended SEU's lead to seven runs.

Following the final out to retire Southeastern's side, the contest was temporarily halted due to Mother Nature's incoming presence.  With thunderstorms refusing to back down, both sides agreed to resume the contest Saturday afternoon, with Freshman outfielder Khadin Bastian to lead things off for Thomas.

Game Two is scheduled to resume Saturday at 1 p.m.
