THOMASVILLE, Ga.— The Thomas University women's basketball team will host its final game of the season on Saturday, as the Night Hawks celebrate their Senior Day with recognition of senior Dyani Sheppard.
Sheppard is a four-year member of the Night Hawk family, coming into the Rose City after graduating from PK Yonge Developmental School in 2018. The Gainesville, Florida native has appeared in 20 games this season, starting 18. The 5-11 forward had a career and season-high in November of 2021, when she shot 7-11 and scored 16 points in a loss to #2 Southeastern University.
Saturday's matchup will be a battle of Georgia SUN Conference teams, as Coastal Georgia (9-17, 4-11 SUN) makes a trip south to conclude their season.
The Night Hawks (2-20, 1-14 SUN) enter the season finale after an unconventional win via a forfeit from Middle Georgia granted TU a win earlier this week. Rounding out the end of the season, graduate student Destiny Reed leads the team in points and rebounds. Junior transfers Ta'Nija Watson and Xènia Cavallé have seen steady improvement throughout the season, as the team has had glimpses of excellence on the court.
Thomas' final chance to end the season on a high note will take place at the TU Gymnasium, with tipoff scheduled for 2 p.m.
Senior Day festivities will take place prior to tipoff.
