Box Score THOMASVILLE, GA — The Thomas University women's basketball team fell to the Warner University Royals Saturday afternoon 58-71 in the team's second to last home game of the 2021-22 season.
The Night Hawks (1-18, 1-12 SUN) got out to a slow start in the contest, getting outscored 17-4 in the opening period, before TU narrowed the gap to close the first and send the game into halftime, 35-29.
The second half went in favor of the Royals (9-14, 4-10 SUN), who, thanks to efficient shooting from long range, extended their lead back to double-digits, leading by as many as 19 before TU once more found a run to close the lead back down to 13 at the end of the game.
Individually, Thomas' Ta'Nija Watson and Destiny Reed put in solid performances, with Watson registering a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. Reed also scored the ball well, with the graduate student once again leading the team in scoring with 23.
In the end, Warner's offense was too much to handle with freshman Jasmine Edwards leading the way with 27 points and 14 rebounds.
Up next, the Night Hawks travel to Babson Park, Florida on Saturday to play the Warriors from Webber International University.
Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
