THOMASVILLE, GA- The Thomasville Sports Hall of Fame held its annual ceremony on Monday, as Jana Pastorek and Jason Piurowski were named the Bill Raney Female and Male Athletes of the Year in the TU Division.
Pastorek is a member of the Thomas University Women's Soccer team. The Forward has received a number of accolades since arriving at TU from Moormerland, Germany. Pastorek had a breakout year during the 2021 season, being named NAIA Player of the Week and SUN Conference Player of the Week. Jana was a big contributor to the Night Hawks 2021 slate notching her first collegiate hat trick. Of her three goals, two were unassisted as a result of direct turnovers. Pastorek accumulated a total of eight goals and six assists for (22) points. Additionally, Jana was not afraid to take her chances in the net as she led the team in total shots with 43 for a .488% Shot on Goal Average (SOG).
Off the pitch, Pastorek was named SUN Conference Scholar Athlete all four years. The Senior was named to the All-Conference 2nd team. She also made the All-Conference team in the A.I.I. Tournament, where the Night Hawks clinched a spot in the NAIA Opening Round. Additionally, Pastorek was also named the SUN Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
Academically, Jana Pastorek has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA at Thomas University, which resulted in her being named to the Presidents list for a total of six times.
Jason Piurowski is part of the Thomas University Men's Soccer team. The New Port Richey, Fla has made his mark on the pitch with his most impactful year being in 2020. Piurowski accumulated one goal and two assists for a total of four points. Additionally, Pirouskwi has been named to the first team All-Conference and a team captain.
