Scoring Festival: Thomas Secures Win Against Gyrenes

THOMASVILLE, GA-  The Thomas University Men's Soccer team put on a very electrifying scoring festival Tuesday morning for their SUN Conference matchup against Ave Maria.

The Night Hawks (5-5-2, 2-2-1) offense started strong as it did not take the Green and White too long to find the back of the net with a goal from Senior Cavan Daley with an assist from Sophomore Connor Parry in the 6th minute. Thomas then had another opportunity to expand their lead with a penalty kick from Sophomore Alex Ruane.

The Gyrenes (4-8-0, 0-6-0) struggled to find a breakaway point throughout the contest. Thomas took advantage of the momentum that was continuing to be built with another goal that was led by Sophomore Kieran McCombe in the 37th minute to stretch the Night Hawks lead.

Eventually, Freshman Stanley Hooker saw an opportunity that he could not pass on as the Defender ended the first half with a goal that was assisted by Alex Ruane in the 43rd minute.

In the second half, Ave Maria tried to find a new strategy to stop the Green and White's offense, but in the 60th minute Senior Defender Lucas Morales continued to spread the lead with an assist by Junior Giacomo Bacigalupo. The Gyrenes attempted several substitutions to find a new solution to help on defense but Sophomore Diego Sanchez delivered a brilliant goal in the 81st minute. Thomas sealed the deal and delivered a statement with one final goal and the first of Freshman Ryan Sim's career that was assisted by Lucas Morals in the 87th minute.

In total, The Gyrenes concluded the day with a total of four shots with just one on goal and a total of four corner kicks. Ave Maria also had seven saves.Thomas University was able to dominate shots with a total of 23 and 14 on goal with one save. The Night Hawks also finished the night with 7 corner kicks.
